The goal was to design an Aloha shirt style pattern with a more hip and pop culture inspired motif of the Mario Bros. This was also inspired by the Mario Odyssey game and Polynesian Pop culture.
As most Aloha shirts tend to be patterned with floral imagery of sorts, the idea was to carry that aesthetic with a more modern touch with the use of the in game items as tropical flora to fill out the background.
As this was created for sublimation printing of a wide variety of products, the pattern needed to be versatile in a variety of ways.
